Play hereAbout the Eiffel Tower
The Eiffel Tower was built between 1887 and 1889 by the company of engineer Gustave Eiffel, as the entrance arch of the 1889 World's Fair in Paris. It was meant to stand for only twenty years, but its use as a radio antenna saved it, and it became the symbol of France.
The tower is about 330 meters tall with its antennas. It is made of roughly 18,000 wrought iron parts held together by around 2.5 million rivets, and it is repainted by hand about every seven years. Millions of visitors climb it every year.
Playing at the Eiffel Tower in MineMaps
In MineMaps you spawn on Avenue du Général Ferrié, on the edge of the Champ de Mars, with the camera already turned toward the tower. The real Street View photo is all around you, and every block you place sits inside that photo, so your builds look like they really stand in Paris.
Everything you build or destroy stays inside the game. If you turn on the Shared World, other players who visit the Eiffel Tower will see your blocks too, and you can send them a link to come and build with you.
Ideas to try
- Dig straight down into the lawn of the Champ de Mars and see how deep the ground goes.
- Stack iron-colored blocks to build a small copy of the tower next to the real one.
- Fence off the avenue with cobblestone and build a Minecraft café terrace.
- Light a line of TNT along the path and watch the crater form in front of the tower.
